Fabrication does not end

at the shop door.

Fabrication does not end when the last weld is ground smooth. It ends when the piece is installed, plumb and level, in the space it was designed for. We treat installation as part of the fabrication process, not a separate service handed off to someone else.


Our installation crew is the same team that fabricated the piece. They know the drawings, they know the tolerances, and they know what the finished piece is supposed to look like. If something needs adjusting on site, the person who built it is there to handle it. That is not a guarantee most fabrication shops can make, because most fabrication shops subcontract installation to a crew that has never seen the drawings.


Before any piece leaves our shop, it goes through a quality control inspection against the approved shop drawings. Dimensions are verified. Welds are visually inspected. Finish is checked against the specification. Hardware is confirmed. For complex assemblies, we dry-fit components in the shop before delivery to verify that field connections will work as designed.


After installation, we walk the completed work with the owner or architect representative and address any punch list items before we leave the site. We do not consider a project complete until the client has accepted the work.

Every piece goes through a six-point quality control inspection before it leaves our Sandy shop. Nothing is loaded until it passes.

Shop Drawing Verification

Every fabricated piece is checked against the approved shop drawings before it leaves the shop. Dimensions, weld locations, hole patterns, anchor bolt spacing, and hardware are all verified against the approved document. Pieces that do not match the approved drawings are corrected before loading.

Weld Inspection

All welds are visually inspected for completeness, size, profile, and undercut. For structural applications, we document weld inspections consistent with AWS D1.1 visual inspection criteria. When the project requires nondestructive testing (UT, MT, or PT), we coordinate with a third-party certified welding inspector.

Finish and Coating Inspection

Powder coat, patina, clear coat, and paint finishes are inspected for coverage, consistency, film thickness, and adherence to the specified color and sheen. Pieces that do not meet the finish specification are returned for rework before delivery. We do not deliver pieces with finish defects and expect them to be accepted.

Hardware and Assembly Fit Check

For complex assemblies, we dry-fit components in the shop before delivery to verify that field connections will work as designed. This step is especially important for staircase systems, gate hardware, structural moment connections, and any assembly where field fit depends on multiple fabricated components aligning correctly.

Dimensional Tolerance Verification

Critical dimensions are verified against the field measurements taken during the site visit. For structural components, we verify that anchor bolt patterns, base plate holes, and connection hardware match the as-built conditions in the field. Discrepancies are resolved before delivery.

Loading and Transport Inspection

Pieces are inspected after loading to confirm that transport blocking and strapping will not damage the finish or distort the assembly during transit. For large or complex pieces, we use custom fabricated transport fixtures to maintain alignment during delivery.

Installation is a six-step process that begins with pre-installation site coordination and ends with an owner walkthrough and punch list sign-off.

Pre-Installation Site Coordination

We coordinate with your GC, superintendent, or site contact before installation to confirm the site is ready: concrete is cured to the required strength, anchor bolts are set and verified against our shop drawings, openings are framed to the correct dimensions, and other trades are clear of the installation area. We do not show up to an unprepared site.

Delivery and Staging

We deliver with our own vehicles and stage pieces in a sequence that matches the installation order. For large or complex installations, we coordinate crane, forklift, or aerial lift equipment as needed. We confirm access routes, overhead clearances, and staging areas in advance.

Anchor and Connection Installation

Anchor bolts, embedded plates, and connection hardware are installed or verified before the fabricated pieces are set. For structural connections, we verify torque requirements and document connections as required by the project specifications.

Field Adjustment and Fit

Field conditions rarely match drawings exactly. Floors are not perfectly level, walls are not perfectly plumb, and openings are not perfectly square. We carry the tools and materials to make field adjustments on site, including cutting, welding, and grinding. Field adjustments are handled by our crew, not called back to the shop.

Anchor and Connection Installation

After installation, we inspect the completed work for plumb, level, and alignment. Any finish damage from installation is touched up on site. For powder-coated pieces, we carry matching touch-up paint. For blackened steel, we carry matching patina and wax.

We walk the completed work with the owner or architect representative and address any punch list items before we leave the site. We do not consider a project complete until the client has accepted the work. For commercial projects, we provide a written punch list response and closeout documentation.

  • Why does it matter that the same crew fabricates and installs the piece?

    Because the person who built the piece knows how it was built. When a field fit issue comes up during installation, the fabricator on site can make a judgment call about whether a modification is within tolerance, what the fastest fix is, and whether the modification affects the structural integrity of the piece. A third-party installer does not have that knowledge. They call the fabricator, wait for an answer, and the project sits. We eliminate that gap by keeping fabrication and installation under the same crew.

  • What does your quality control process look like before a piece leaves the shop?

    Before any piece is loaded for delivery, we verify dimensions against the approved shop drawings, inspect all welds visually against AWS D1.1 criteria, inspect the finish for coverage and consistency, and dry-fit complex assemblies to confirm field connections will work as designed. Pieces that do not pass inspection are corrected before loading. We do not deliver pieces with known defects and expect them to be accepted.

  • What quality control documentation do you provide at project closeout?

    For structural projects, we provide weld inspection documentation, weld procedure specifications (WPS), welder performance qualifications (WPQ), and mill test reports (MTRs) as part of project closeout. For commercial projects, we provide a written punch list response and any other closeout documentation required by the contract. For residential projects, we provide the approved shop drawings and any warranty documentation.

  • What areas of Utah do you serve for installation?

    We install throughout the Wasatch Front and surrounding areas, including Salt Lake City, Sandy, Draper, Alpine, Park City, Deer Valley, Heber Valley, Provo, and Ogden. We have completed projects in Summit County, Utah County, Davis County, and Salt Lake County. For projects outside our standard service area, contact us to discuss logistics and any additional travel costs.

  • What if something does not fit correctly on site?

    Field conditions rarely match drawings exactly. Floors are not perfectly level, walls are not perfectly plumb, and openings are not perfectly square. We carry cutting, welding, and grinding equipment on every installation job. Our crew can handle most field fit issues on site without returning to the shop. If a significant modification is required, we discuss the options and timeline with the client before proceeding. We do not leave a site with an unresolved fit issue.

  • How do you coordinate installation with a general contractor?

    We coordinate directly with the GC's superintendent on delivery windows, installation sequencing, and site access. We confirm site readiness before mobilizing, including anchor bolt placement, concrete cure strength, framing dimensions, and clearance from other trades. We work within your project management system and provide advance notice of our installation schedule. We do not show up unannounced.

  • What is a punch list and how do you handle it?

    A punch list is a list of items that need to be corrected or completed before the project is considered finished. After installation, we walk the completed work with the owner or architect representative and document any items that need attention. We address punch list items before we leave the site when possible, and within an agreed timeframe when a return visit is required. We do not consider a project complete until the client has accepted the work.
