⸻ WHY LUCAS SERVICES
Fabricated Here.
Installed by Us.
We fabricate everything in-house at our Sandy, Utah shop. We do not subcontract fabrication or installation. The welders who build your piece are the ones who install it. That is not a guarantee most fabrication shops can make.
Our welders hold AWS certifications and work to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code standards for structural applications. We produce shop drawings for engineer and architect review before any steel is cut. We do not begin fabrication until drawings are approved.
We serve residential homeowners, interior designers, residential architects, general contractors, commercial architects, and developers across the Wasatch Front and Utah's mountain communities.

⸻ COMMON QUESTIONS
Fabrication FAQs
What types of metal fabrication does Lucas Services offer?
We offer industrial, commercial, residential, structural, and custom metal fabrication, as well as welding services. Our shop in Sandy, Utah handles everything from heavy structural steel to precision architectural metalwork. We fabricate staircases, railings, gates, structural frames, equipment supports, fireplace surrounds, furniture bases, and one-off custom commissions.
Do you work with homeowners, or only contractors?
Both. We work directly with homeowners on residential projects and with general contractors, architects, and developers on commercial and industrial projects. The process is the same regardless of who the client is: site visit, shop drawings, fabrication, and installation by our own crew.
What materials do you fabricate with?
We primarily fabricate with hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Material selection depends on the application, environment, structural requirements, and desired finish. We discuss material options with every client during the design phase.
Do you subcontract any of your fabrication work?
No. All fabrication is performed in-house at our Sandy, Utah shop by our own AWS-certified welders. We do not subcontract fabrication. This gives us direct control over quality, schedule, and communication throughout the project.
How long does a typical fabrication project take?
Lead time depends on the scope, complexity, and our current shop schedule. For most residential projects, the timeline from approved shop drawings to installation is four to eight weeks. Commercial and industrial projects vary more widely. We provide a specific timeline with every proposal.
Do you provide shop drawings before fabrication?
Yes. We produce shop drawings for every project before any steel is cut. Shop drawings are submitted to the client, architect, or engineer for review and approval. Fabrication does not begin until shop drawings are approved. This is the most effective way to prevent costly field changes.
What service areas do you cover?
We fabricate and install throughout the Wasatch Front, including Salt Lake City, Sandy, Draper, South Jordan, Murray, Millcreek, Park City, Deer Valley, Heber Valley, Provo, Orem, Lehi, and Alpine. For larger commercial and industrial projects, we work anywhere in Utah.
