Industrial Fabrication Questions

  • Do you fabricate to AISC and AWS standards?

    We fabricate structural steel components consistent with AISC standards and AWS D1.1 welding requirements. All structural welds are performed by AWS-certified welders, and we maintain weld procedure specifications and welder qualification records. For projects requiring third-party inspection, we can coordinate with a certified welding inspector.

  • Can you work from engineer-stamped structural drawings?

    Yes. We regularly work from engineer-stamped structural drawings and produce shop drawings that are submitted back to the engineer of record for review and approval before fabrication begins. This is standard practice on commercial and industrial projects in Utah.

  • Do you provide mill certifications for the steel you use?

    Yes. For projects requiring material traceability, we procure steel with mill test reports (MTRs) and can provide copies as part of the project closeout documentation. This is a standard requirement on projects with structural engineering oversight.

  • Do you subcontract any of your fabrication work?

    No. All fabrication is performed in-house at our Sandy, Utah shop by our own AWS-certified welders. We do not subcontract fabrication. This gives us direct control over quality, schedule, and communication throughout the project.

  • Can you handle field welding and on-site modifications?

    Yes. We have portable welding equipment and can perform field welding, on-site modifications, and installation work. Our installation crew is the same team that fabricated the components, which means field fit issues are resolved quickly without a separate contractor involved.

  • What is your typical lead time for industrial fabrication?

    Lead time depends on project scope, material availability, and current shop capacity. For most industrial projects, we can provide a realistic schedule during the initial consultation. We recommend engaging us early in the design phase so we can plan material procurement and shop time accordingly.

  • Do you work on projects outside of Salt Lake County?

    Yes. We serve the entire state of Utah and have completed industrial projects in Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Weber, Summit, and Wasatch counties. For larger projects, we can also work in neighboring states.
